Preparing for the Holidays

Our home is in Casa Chic Magazine in Europe decorated for Christmas, and you can read it digitally on Readly. I took the photos but the people at Casa Chic made the story board and wrote the story.

This is my favorite time of year. Preparing for the holidays feels nurturing and draws me closer to the meaning and memories; traditions honor our past and loved ones that came before us. Christmas inspires me, and  I am here to share for November and December. This season, the light glows, our desert garden is green and the citrus begins to turn orange and yellow. I embrace the festivity, but in simplicity of decorating and in living. I use mostly what I have, but each year, I try to use this decor in different ways or in different rooms.

Today is my first share, and this small dining spot, is our first decor for the season. It's a combination of autumn and what's to come. There's a white pumpkin on the floor and faded orange towels serve as linens because they are easier to wash.  I always hang something on this armoire, now our larder, and this year, I decided on a linen stocking. So it's not in the way, I hang it on the door that opens first.  Hanging something on a door knob is a simple way to begin. The salad is mixed greens with pomegranate seeds and pecans.  The pink drink is hibiscus tea. The florals are just cuttings from the garden this time of year. If I didn't have any florals, I would use branches. The vases are saved jars.

             Thank you for visiting.

    1. LOL. Thank you. I can mostly read Italian at magazine or newspaper level. A couple of things I was not sure if they got right, but let it go, because it was close or most likely right because I am not that great... I get by because of my French and Spanish and going there. Though I read much better than my speech in any of those languages. My speech is atrocious in that it is jumbled and slow. People finish for me in either their language or English. LOL
