Three Sweet Things

I have three things for you today: a recipe, a welcoming idea, and a link to a story on the power of kindness.

First

Here's an easy recipe.
It's oatmeal made with oat milk. It's a hearty, dryer version.
This recipe uses Quaker Old Fashioned Oats and their unsweetened oat milk drink.

Take 1/2 cup of oats and 1/2 of oat milk and put them in a pan together, and cook until most of the liquid is gone and the oats soften. I like to stir as it cooks, because it seems softer. It makes one serving and it is 175 calories.

What I love about the oat milk is that it creates sweetness.
I add a few pecan pieces, some chia or poppy seed, a few dried cranberries, and some fresh fruit.

It is one of our favorite meals to have for brunch or late breakfast or early lunch.
I find it really controls my appetite.

It also works with soy milk, because that's my daughter's preference. She adds pumpkin spice, cinnamon, or vanilla.

My spouse likes to add walnuts and brown sugar, but he prefers his made from water.

On a positive note, since my daughter has been at school, my meals have become more regular,
and I am wearing my zeros and twos again!

Second

I love making bouquets from our garden, and I place it on the front porch. It looks so pretty, and it's such a welcoming greeting for visitors!
Yes, the house is pink! We painted it after Christmas, and it is so cute! It is such a small vintage cottage, and pink is just the right amount of happiness for me, and it reminds me of our wanderings. We also painted the wicker, the shutters, and doors a french gray, and touched up the white trim.
My daughter is amazed that everything seems to work together, like dishes, and found and painted vintage. It's just that I stick with what I love.

Third

Painted Vintage Furniture.

Here's a link to two little stories of kindness here and here on this Jennifer Goble's blog.
What if we could tell stories of kindness instead of filming when offended?

  2. Zeros and Twos, eh? You had best be careful or a stiff breeze could blow you away. ☺️ If that oatmeal is helping with appetite, I should definitely try some.

My mother painted my childhood home pink and, though it is no longer pink, it is still described by many as the “pink house.” I think it must be completely charming.

    1. Hi, Vee. It's okay. I am barely five feet, and I am wearing my old clothes. Lol.

That is so sweet and endearing that it is still called the "pink house". xoox Su

  4. Hi Su, wow, you are so lucky to be that small. I used to be a size 2 at one time way before I had my daughter. I am between a size 4 and 6 in certain clothes. The oatmeal sounds so good. I like making oatmeal in the crock pot with steel cut oats, add 1 banana, 1 apple cut up, a small amount of quinoa and almond milk. It tastes so good! The flowers are just beautiful. We need to find time to paint my daughters room.
It was so nice to hear from you and that all is well. Take care.

    1. I think it is just easier now that I don't have to regularly prepare special food or selective eaters. Teen years seem more difficult for food prep than younger years. I am also only five feet. That is so neat about your oatmeal. That's another way that would not take a lot of time, and sounds delicious. xoxo Su

  5. Your garden bouquets are gorgeous. If you want to leave one on my porch that would be great lol!
The oatmeal sounds so good. Have a wonderful rest of this week.

  7. Great stories to highlight that far more good happens than bad. But, bad sells more newspapers and gets more ratings.

Thanks for the good news stories this morning.

  8. The oatmeal looks delicious, Su. I like to cook quinoa and add nuts, berries or an chopped apple, and unsweetened coconut, if I have some in the house. Your bouquet is lovely. Hugs, Nancy
