Then Summer and Now September

So September is here and summer sleepiness is gone.
Six weeks studying or wandering and wrapping it up with a visit with my father in Rhode Island.
This view makes me happy, but honestly I'm just as happy living out of a suitcase, just walking, window watching, listening to music, and learning.

I came back to a sunburnt garden, but we have had lots of rain this summer and cooler days, so the blossoms are coming back.

I have escaped from our heat for three years now, but still return to several hot weeks that make me want to stay indoors and simmer.

The mint and basil are flowering, and it smells wonderful on my arms or on the kitchen counter.

I hung some linen curtains on my canopy bed that I found on sale, and I love the simpler look.

I've completed a few projects too and have some small projects in the planning, so I am returning to here, and will be posting and visiting more regularly soon.

But  one can always follow me on Instagram. I post more regularly there, and there are photos from our trip.

  7. So lovely Su. Your home is always beautiful to me. The flowers in your garden are such a lovely shade of Autumn. And I understand about your herbs...The herbs in my garden are overflowing the raised beds. I love them so much. I am sorry that I cannot keep up with you on Instagram. I do value all the beauty you give. I have to keep my feed quiet, slow and very very simple for personal health reasons. May your September be everything you love. xx Kerrie

  20. I like your reference to simmering :-). So evidently we've both been absent from blog land, but for different reasons. I've enjoyed following you on Instagram. This week is busy but i hope to stop by. Love your curtains and the while mellow, cool, and elegant look.

  23. Welcome back, Su! I remember escaping the heat when we lived in Scottsdale. Since I had a small child, we escaped to La Jolla or the Florida panhandle to visit family and friends.

I love your linen curtains. They are definitely you! So pretty!

    1. I just get bogged down every summer. It's too hot here, and when we go away the internet is so intermittent compared to here. So I mostly give up the online, which is for the best. We had a lovely couple of weeks in Paris. We walked everywhere, and stayed out of the metro except to go to England. We walked ten miles a day sometimes more. We loved it, and know the city well now. In the past, I was never quite oriented riding the metro all the time. xoxo Su

  28. Darling Su,
I've been missing you so much and I'm so overjoyed by reading a post of yours !

This Summer I also had to take a break for the first time since I'm in Blogland, for too many works didn't allow me to stay here and follow you all and I'm back for about a month.

Wishing you a most wonderful week ever, I'm sending blessings of joy on your days to come

    1. Thank you so much, Dany. I am glad your back. When I am in Europe in the summer, my internet connection is poor or non existent where I stay, so I posted from cafe. :) Thank you. In September, I am slow to get back to blogging, because I really have a hard time with the weather here. Then a week and half ago, our kitty, Anya, died. It was so sad, just a sudden illness, and she was gone, not even that old. I hope to be doing more soon. xoxo Su
