The March Garden

I spent a lot of time outdoors today, and I will show you how my garden is doing.

The roses bloom.

Blackie is still my helper.

The citrus trees smell heavenly, and the bees kiss the blooms. The "copper" garden trellis has held up fine despite the intense sun and heat.  It is fitted to hold shade cloth in the summer and plastic with Christmas lights underneath for a few cold evenings a year.

The lavender blooms.

The black pansies that were planted a few weeks ago are spreading.

Almost all yellow flowers on the bushes are spent, but they beautifully blanket the gravel.
The aloe continues to bloom and invite hummingbirds, but I forgot to take a photo.

Madeline the toy poodle is best of friends with Blackie. They are playing a game here, but she moves so fast that I didn't capture it with my camera. I should of had the phone to take a video.

I am hoping my mini meadow will reseed itself, but no signs yet.
The tomatoes, broccoli, spinach, lettuce, basil, and cilantro are all planted and mint just spreads by itself.

Thank you for visiting. Have a wonderful day.

  6. Dear Su:
To have such a lovely garden in March is wonderful. What a lovely place and that cactus is amazing!

    1. Thank you, Bernideen. That cactus is probably thirty feet high, and my camera only got a third. The specialist who came out to trim it called it an organ pipe. Maybe. It's probably original to the house like the palm trees. xoxo Su

  11. Su a visit to Butterfly Bungalow warms my heart and lifts my spirits. Love your garden's exuberance in color and bloom. Seriously what could be better than flower gardens and pets? Blackie and Madeline best friends. I love it. I do hope you can catch a little video of them in play. Your rusty Woodpecker is super adorable. I had Black Pansies one Halloween and loved them. Sadly I did not weather them during the winter in the garage. Fun post, enjoy your days of play in your delightful garden.

    1. Thank you, Cindy. It's funny how much debris gets on the gravel. Isn't it? Also we get the dead head plants that need to be cut back and the ones that already took off a bit much. It amazes me the pile we get when we are done. xoox Su
