Venice Afternoons

Venice... the way to see it is to drift through the back alleys

Worn Door Knockers

Fruit Stands

An Arch that is not in a guide book

A ruin... a cage or a merry go round... who knows

No cars... Just your feet...

I wonder who lived here or stayed here...

Away from the swarms

To see this city from a different point of view...
It's worn... but the peeling fading colors and the crumbling stucco
are beautiful...

We have been busy since we arrived home, and I'm trying to get back into blogging.
Thank you to all who visit and leave sweet messages.

  7. Beautiful photos...especially with so few people (tourists) in them. Were you taking these on a sunday morning? Once upon a time i dreamed of visiting V. Can't do it now, but your pictures touched a sweet spot in my mind. Thank you........

    1. It stays light late until at least nine, so it might have been around 7 or 8 p.m. It is also a part where the lanes and canals are wider. I think it has something to do with Napolean and then later with WW II. Though the Bridge of Sighs might have been early morning, and the photo is from the less busy vantage point. Thank you for visiting. xoxo Su

  12. Awwwwa, Venice!
What beauty filled with inspiration I am sure you brought home with you.
I have to tell you that marry-go-round cage apparatus, is my favorite foto, there is this haunting vibe about it, of course I see things much differently then most but truly this is something I would love planted in my yard with vines growing all over it. As we see here, but perhaps the wrong season for life. Look at that galvanized apron scalloped around the top, could you even imagine having just even that and using it as a crown molding in a room of a home?

Your travel was amazing girl, makes me feel like I so need to get out more often.

    1. I agree. It's so gorgeous. I might make that one into a black and white. I saw it last year, and went back again this year to just sit across from it and look at it. It reminds me of an illustration in Madeleine. Thank you for visiting Dore. I plan to get caught up on visiting. xoxo Su

  13. Su,
Thank you for sharing all the amazing photos. We added Venice into our destination spots in 2016, for the entire 36 years of our marriage we have always talked about going. Strolling your pictures I hope we return home with the lasting impressions you captured in your photo essay. Traveling we will look through the tour books and then wander on foot at our own pace with eyes opened wide. I would of lingered in time with the ruin mentally writing a poetic fable. I see with the park benches circling the ruin people can sit and reflect. I have looked at and enjoyed each and every photo you have shared in this post many times, thank you.
    xoxo,
    Vera
