I have been making wreaths. This one is a little time consuming, but the result is pretty.
The supplies needed are on the collage. (P.S. it's a foam wreath form.)
I made two different kinds. Personally, I prefer the one with the more expensive moss, but it took an entire bag. The expensive moss is prettier, cleaner, smells fresher, and is more compact. In contrast, the wreath for the front porch was made with inexpensive moss. I used a punch to make butterflies, because it is faster than cutting my own. I used scrap booking paper that I already had, though any will do. If the paper is thinner the butterflies are a little floppy. The pins were tiny silver ones from the sewing section, though on the outside wreath I added a few colored ones for accents. I found the wreath form at a dollar store.
One For the Front Porch...
I hot glued the moss on, pinned the cut-out butterflies, pinned the ribbon, and that was that.
And One for the Sleeping Porch...
Have a wonderful week.

DeleteOh, Su...I love all the wreaths...you are so talented...and...I WANT A SLEEPING PORCH.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking, as soon as Mr. Sweet finishes his HUGE current project (he's building a storage and shop), I might start leaving photos of sleeping porches around...do ya think he might get the hint??:)
Funny. You know, BJ, that your living room with its two sets of French doors and windows is very porch like. xoxo Su

DeleteYour blog is very lovely, Su!
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by with your guess about the light reflection. Please come back and see my latest post as I actually give another blog link to a person who made a shrine which is the same shape as the object which reflected the light. It is actually the element of ...oops! I almost gave away the element fairies don't like as the element would give away what fairies don't like! Come on over for another try!
Thank you. I'm following you by bloglovin, and apparently I am a follower by google too. It's really a tough puzzle to solve! But fun. xoox
DeleteSo pretty! Your butterflies remind me of the little lavender ones I saw in my garden yesterday. They were so small and constantly moving so I couldn't get a good picture of them.
ReplyDeleteI layered them, Dewena, and curved them and I think it made them look as if they were fluttering. xoox Su
DeleteHow pretty! I'll have to look for a butterfly cutter. I would love to make a pretty garland with butterflies. Sweet hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteHi, Diane. There are so many different kinds at Hobby Lobby and Michaels. xoxo Su

ReplyDeleteThank you, Jennifer. I made these two. And my daughter liked it so much she made some two also. One she placed where she can see it from her piano. xoxo Su
DeleteYes dreamy... Perfect word. Isn't mariposa a lovely translation into Spanish? The perfect muse for your perfect cottage!
ReplyDeleteHi, Dana. Mariposa is butterfly in Spanish. We used that as a blog name for a while. My daughter came up with this name when we moved. She wanted bungalow because it is an alliteration. xoxo Su

Your attention to detail has paid off and it is a delicate and artistic addition to your home!

DeleteThank tou Su, for your beautiful visit, your bird is on it way to you!
ReplyDeleteThank you dear for sharing your time with my new canvas, it was a great GoodWill find and out of its frame that much better. I feel like it needs to be appraised at one of those antique road shows where they tell my its worth $ thousands and I sell, sell, sell, :)
It was $17.00 framed and all and painted on linen.
It was exciting to take a chance on a piece that feels so foreign in my home of paleness :)
See you soon dear, looking forward to your next project.
Xoxo
Dore
Thank you, Dore. I love the painting you found and the contrast, and because it is aged, it looks so perfect. Goodwill!

ReplyDelete...just coming back by to say I hope all is well with you...haven't posted in awhile and hoping you are just busy with.....life..:)
ReplyDeleteThank you, BJ for asking. We are all well. I got bogged down, and I was going to write something to day, but I have not yet. I had one more room to fix the floors in, so everything is all stacked up. In my library the stuff is almost to the ceiling. :)
DeleteHi Su, thank you for your visit, it's always a joy to see you, and your comments always make me smile.
ReplyDeleteAs for the DAPHNES Diary Magazine I am on Page 30-34 it's really Fifi's feature about the Prairie-Style Weddings book.... But all the designs and art is my pieces, the BirdHouse wedding cake that I built, and the wire birdcage cake topper I created for it, that someday will be my daughters cake topper if she has not changed her mind by then....she wants a rustic French Wedding.
The bird wing that says on the wings of love, is mine and my design, that seamed to take off when I was selling them in my etsy. All the wire birdcages hanging with roses, my daughter is in it a different photo then what was in the book...all my French zinc table place numbers, and the Zinc plaque that says ( I DO ) The typography salvage woods 100 plus years old sign that I made, my LOVE sign that I also sold some in my etsy shop. The garlands dropped in the trees, the place setting favors, and vintage pieces, it was such a beautiful Location to be on with Fifi a 3 hour drive from the southern Ca. Desert that we live on, yet make enough trips to Santa Barbara Ca, to refresh, find our center and take in the peaceful inspiring beauty of the seaside of Santa Barbara Ca.
The wedding cake I plan to show again in a post with a close up.... My daughter when she gets married someday, she wants me to place it on a post with signs pointing in the direction saying Wedding, one with reception, white desserts and so on.
Also the chandeliers used in the setting was mine........
Su, I pick up this mag every so often loving it for so many reasons, and almost left the book store without this one..... When I turned baxk around to get one, I flipped through the pages to see if I would want this issue and was totally SHOCKED to see my daughter and all my art and designs in this issue, I absolutely had know idea I was a part of this feature with Fifi, she could have picked any featured pages out of the book, I gasped and was like OMGosh! It's me....Its my art pieces and Hannah look it's you!
Little sweet surprises really takes the cake!
Thank you dear for visiting and mentioning the bird, I have my last one listed in my etsy with a little added rusty art piece I wired up for it. Will look forward to seeing how you display it in you wonderful cottage.

Doré
It's so neat, Doré. I had a chance to sit down and look at the issue tonight. They plug the wedding book, so that was nice. It looks very beautiful, and your daughter as well. Recognize the signature signs. I pick my copy up at Barnes and Noble; I really enjoy it. I love Santa Barbara, and it is one of the prettiest places on the coast. What a sweet surprise for both of you. I wish it could of mentioned your shop. Maybe you could send an email telling where they can get your items. Sometimes that have that. On p. 44-45, my daughter has one of her prints. She picked it up several months ago at this fantastic boutique called French Bee. I had no idea she had an Etsy shop, but it is mentioned in here, because she is featured. It's so funny, because we both have something from two artists in there. xoxo Su
