The Hatter's Room

Following the floor installation, I've one room together! I have a ways to go, because I even have to put the sleeping porch back together, because that was the staging area.

This is our little library, and we call it the "Mad Hatter's room".  It is the second bedroom in this house, but it small and one of the doors leads to my daughter's bedroom, so we decided a long time ago that it was not Jack's or  Jill's room. Maybe you can find some decor clues. There is also at least one butterfly in these photos.

I have a rug, but we are going with bare floors for the summer. Our beautiful weather is about gone until October.

This is an electric fireplace. In the cooler months it is fun to turn it on, but we can also turn it on and use it without heat when using this room. My daughter was right that this would be a  good Christmas present for both of us with one of the mirrors we had over it.

These are the hatter's chairs, and there are settings for tea in the china cabinet.  The little library bell is for the door mouse.  There is a clock that looks like a mora clock, but it is two-dimensional.

Some "family" photos.  The "cheshire" cats are postcards. One is from Ikea, and the other was from Venice.  Also, you never know when you will need your crown.

Giant Chess Piece and Sewing Basket

The trunk under the window is a nice spot when the window is open, because the fountain is right outside.  So even though the room looks serious, it's not.  So how many references are there to Alice? I don't know. I probably don't even see all of them.  Did you find the butterfly?

    1. Thank you, Victoria. I found those chairs in a second hand shop for next to nothing, in excellent condition. On the bottom they say they were made in California in 1984.

  9. Hi,
Glad to hear your hand is improving, but sorry to hear that it still aches, that makes life difficult I'm sure.
Your home is so charming, really lovely. It is such a pleasure to see a home that is loved as much as yours is. Your hard work shows in every photo, a true credit to your and your family. It is my pleasure to "visit".

  16. Hi Su, I want your man taylored wing chairs... :)
Your room looks so inviting to site over tea, and do some serious reading here. It really has a cozy feel, and the library bookcase is something I have been want to add in my sitting room.

You have a home to love, as for the bare floors they look amazing and will feel really nice come late spring through summer.
