Peppers and Poppyseed Bread

Look what I found in the garden yesterday!  Green peppers! We planted red and yellow!
This plate was my daughter's gift to me for Mother's Day.  I love the rabbit's expression, and
she looked humorous next to the peppers.

I love shades of turquoise, green, white, and gray.

These colors make me dream of the beach even though we are no where near it.

So I have to pretend.  In the afternoon, because it is still slightly cooler outside than inside,  I turn on the fan and open the porch doors and drink fruit, infused water.

And here is a snack! My spouse baked a poppyseed roll!  But it's not gluten-free, because not everyone likes it.

    1. Hi, Kim. Me too. I have to stay away from Anthropologie! I found the bucket at a second hand store. I think someone painted an old bucket and placed a graphic on it. xoxo

  7. It sooo pretty at your place all the time ;-) I am taking a break from hostess and popping in for a quick hello. My red and yellow peppers are always green before they are ripe. Did you taste yours, were they lovely? I love all peppers. I think I need raised beds now, my garden is having so many problems because of the gophers and critters. I am on my 3rd replanting. I wish I had peppers right now myself, haha ;-)

    1. Thank you, Vanessa, that's so good to know. They were a little sunburned when I picked them, but I left the sheltered peppers underneath; so I will leave them longer and wait to see if they turn red or yellow. I put them in eggs and they were yummy. To build the beds we used the Sunset magazine plan, which is available online for free.. We ended up using redwood, and maybe because we had some supplies, it cost us less than what they projected. :) xo Su

    1. Thank you, Susie. Enjoy your time with your sister. I would like to know how to make the salmon cakes. When my French Canadian grandmother was alive she use to make them. Maybe when you have time you can blog it. xoxo

  16. Well first I want to say that you do white beautifully. I love how you throw in appropriate accents of peaceful colors. And secondly, I love bunnies. I have two pet bunnies and am host to a parade of wild cotton-tailed cuties. Feel free to forward the plate to me :) What a lovely gift from your daughter. It is so rare to be able to have the house opened up in May in a desert climate. Such beautiful imagery.

    1. Thank you, Dana. Pet bunnies! My daughter would love that. She misses not seeing cottontails in the city. You are right about the temperature this week. We have only been in the 90s instead of the low 100s. xoxo

  18. The bread looks yummy! I believe if you leave the green peppers on the plant they'll turn red or yellow. That's what happened to me two years ago when I had planted red peppers. They are green at first, then change colour.

    1. Thank you, Magali. Yes, Vanessa, from AZ, told me to leave them on longer. The ones to the outside were already sunburnt, but I left the ones on underneath, so I will see if they turn red or yellow.
