Creating a Dressing Area

This sweet little space is the dressing area in my daughter's room
The gray, embroidered shoes are my daughter's from several years ago, but they were so pretty that we saved them.

These are the closet drawers, and she likes to display one of her current piano dresses on the tarnished, platinum knob.

To make the most of a small closet, we installed a small organizer: a set of drawers, two areas to hang clothing: one on the left and one on the right, and a set of shelves.  The storage goes from the floor to the ceiling, and baskets keep things somewhat tidy, most of the time.  I chose a color that is similar to the furniture.

This is an older home with tiny closets, and the original door to this closet is missing. But since I wanted the white lingerie chest with the armoire in the room more than a door, I left it off, and it looks pretty without the door.
She dressed the form.

She loves to mix the old with the new.  The minty-aqua table is her find from a second hand store, and the faux sheepskin rug is from Ikea.  The table is also just the right height to sit too,
because it's older and sturdy.
There is a curtain for privacy to the left.

The turquoise Ikea lantern looks nice with the classic furniture.

There is a step stool to reach some of the higher shelves and drawers. I need to use the step ladder if she needs something on the top shelves,
but that is rare.  I stenciled this step a while back.

Thank you for visiting.

    1. Thank you, Sarah. She likes feminine things, and she doesn't like bright colors like most girls her age.

  5. How pretty! Not having a door isn't so bad when you have beautiful little dresses to display. :) The door would just get in the way anyway...wouldn't it? That display wire is neat too. We have two boys and I never got to decorate a girl's room. Love to look at them.

    1. Thank you, Stacey, for your lovely visit. Yes, with the swing of the door the chest could not be there. The display wire is from Ikea. ♡

  6. I just looove closets without doors....especially when they look THIS cute.
    I love her room....so sweet.
I, too, am working on a dressing area....and having a ball doing it.
I wondered what to put on top of a hutch I am using in the area and couldn't decide WHAT...then, I saw your sweet quilts stacked and knew in an instant what I would do. THANKS for the sweet inspiration.
    O, I do love blogging...!!

  13. You're daughter reminds me so much of myself at her age - I was SO into decorating my space
( not sure I had her exquisite taste at that age though )
Just gorgeous Susan - really - all those touches just blend in together beautifully - a dream bedroom!

    1. Thank you, Suzan. ♡She is very sophisticated. She does classical piano, sings, and ballet. Everyone is amazed at her dressing style. We don't spend a lot. But she has a great eye for vintage and knockoffs and how to mix things. Some of it the decorating has rubbed off from me,. But I don't have great style dressing; I hate to bother with that stuff, so she did not get that from me!

    1. Thank you, Victoria. From the time my daughter was a little girl, she has had beautiful rooms. She is quite a bit older than yours tween-teen, but I think because she has always had a pretty space she cares about it. She can make a mess, but she cleans it up in a day or so. She is learning that she likes it nice. That's just my theory. So if you want to make over your girls room, I would, because your talent will rub off on them. ♡ xoxo Have a lovely weekend. P.S. she has a large glass covered table in her room with a computer and a big surface to create and make a mess. She also has a space to display her creations in there, but I have not photographed it.
