Lots of Smaller Projects

I've worked on smaller projects this week.

I painted this folding chair to use at my cafe table; I can hang it on the wall when it is not in use.

Awhile back my parents gave my daughter this rocking chair. Unfortunately, it was left outside in the rain and the heat and it became unglued and faded, so I painted, glued, and clamped it back together.

And my spouse worked on the crown molding in the kitchen.  Did I mention he made that faux beam too?  The box was easy to make, the hanging was not, because the walls and ceilings are not square.
This Old House had several tutorials on how to cut crown molding.

What are you working on?

  1. Oh, pleae show us that darling rocking-chair when it's put back together!
I'm currently working on painting a bookshelf. It should have been a few hour project and it's turning into a nightmare as the product used in the fifties to give the wood a rich colour keeps showing through the paint. It had never happened to me before... I'm cursing a lot and I'm brainstorming to find a solve the problem!

    1. I will, Magali.

Oh no! How frustrating! Do they sell stain blocker primers in France? One might have to sand between the primer and the real paint coat color; I redid a stained chair with a primer and then painted it, but I thought it made the paint look lumpy, so I then had to go back and sand and paint the final color again.

The other thought is do they sell chalk paint? That is suppose to cover well. If they don't, one can make it. I've seen formulas on the internet.
