Homeschool Mother's Journal

In my life this week…
We finished painting the front of the house and the wall.  Yes.  The neighbors are happy, happy even though many of the homes need restoration.  When you live in neighborhood that is older and being brought back to life, working on your home inspires others.
In our homeschool this week…
Dance resumed and piano lessons moved back to the university for the school year.  My daughter is glum because she prefers the professor's home, because she loves his cats and his dog.  But don't be glum for her, we have three cats and a poodle.
Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…
It is much easier, of course she is eleven, for my child to present me a schedule than it is for me to nag, unless she has failed to do so by 10 a.m.  It makes our day much easier.
I am inspired by…
photos of fixer-uppers, my spouse's ability to repair things....
Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…
My sister flew in from Texas with her toddler and spouse for a weekend visit.
My favorite thing this week was…
My daughter planning her September 1, 2012 Harry Potter party.  It's neat that she still loves dressing up, but she is a theatrical girl.
Things I’m working on…
I need to paint the porch next.  I need to find a Calculus course.  I need to select a Chemistry course.
I’m cooking…
Well, it is cold food preparation, because I don't have a kitchen, but I am preparing a Harry Potter party for September 1.
I’m grateful for…
this fixer upper...  Our new life...  Our new neighbors... Sisters
I’m praying for…
my spouse, my child, my family, soldiers, our country.
A photo, video, link, or quote to share…
Winston Churchill said, "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."
